Jade Plant
Commonly know as money tree this plant is particularly effective in absorbing toluene that's emitted from gasoline, paints, kerosene and lacquers. The jade plant and some other arid climate plant species like Mother-in-Law’s Tongue follow a rare Crassulacean Acid Metabolism. It provides them the ability to absorb carbon dioxide at night. It’s one of the plants that you can grow indoors to raise the quality of the air at night.
Aloe Vera
A healing aloe plant is a lovely addition to your kitchen windowsill, being on hand to soothe any kitchen burns and sunburn, this succulent will be purifying the air of formaldehyde and benzene, found in varnishes, floor finishes, and detergents. It's also an excellent plant to use in facials as the sap is considered an anti winkle remedy. It loves a sunny spot on a window sill.
Cactus
These plants are good at eliminating bacteria and tackling pollution, cacti is also great at reducing radiation. Placing them by computer modems and other electrical products can be beneficial to your families health. Cacti also absorbs carbon dioxide at night and release oxygen. making this a good plant for the bedroom too.
Snake Plant
Sanseveria (Snake Plant) also known as Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, is an excellent plant for filtering out formaldehyde, which is common in cleaning products, hygiene, and personal care products. While some plants remove one or two toxins, snake plants are effective at removing four major toxins from the air making them one of the best air purifiers.
Spider Plant
Chlorophytum (Spider Plant) is a well-known champion cleanser of air. The NASA tests showed it to remove around 90% of the potentially cancer-causing chemical formaldehyde from the air. Since formaldehyde is found in common household products like adhesives, grout and fillers, it’s a good idea to keep one of these plants in your kitchen and bathrooms. It will also absorb carbon monoxide and xylene, a solvent used in the printing and rubber industries. If you have pets, this is one of the few houseplants that is non-toxic to animals.
Dracaena
Dracaena (Dragon Tree) is useful for removing xylene, trichloroethylene, and formaldehyde, which spreads in indoor air through lacquers like your hairspray, furniture polish or varnish. Compounds found in paints, cleaning agents, clothing and building materials add unwanted toxins to our homes, and Dracaenas are one of the finest indoor plants at removing them.
Ivy
English ivy is another great indoor plant that removes toxins. This plant has been shown to reduce 60% of airborne mold and 58% of airborne faeces after being placed in a room for only 6 hours! So these are excellent plants for bathrooms.
