If so, you might enjoy these interesting facts about your favourite spring flower...

- Tulips are not from Holland. They actually came from Central Asia and were brought to Europe by the Ottomans. The name tulip comes from the Persian word for turban, because they look like little hats. How cute is that?

- Tulips were once more valuable than gold. In the 1600s, there was a craze called Tulipmania in the Netherlands, where people paid crazy prices for rare tulip bulbs. Some bulbs were worth six times an average person's annual salary. Talk about flower power!

- Tulips have different meanings depending on their colour. Red tulips mean true love, white tulips mean forgiveness, and purple tulips mean royalty. So if you want to impress your crush, you know what to do. Just don't mix up the colours!

- Tulips can grow after being cut. If you put them in a vase with water, they can continue to grow up to an inch or more. They also bend and twist to follow the light. That's why your tulip bouquet might look different every day. They are alive!- Tulips are edible. They belong to the lily family, which also includes onions, garlic, and asparagus. You can use the petals as an onion substitute or make wine from them. They were also eaten during the Dutch famine in World War II. But don't eat them now, they are too pretty!
